COACH DANNY ROWLAND HELMS FINAL MATCH AGAINST TUSCULUM

WISE – The UVA Wise Tennis Team hosted 40th-ranked Tusculum in both the season finale and the final game of Coach Danny Rowland's tenure on the sidelines Monday afternoon.

Coach Rowland joined the program in 1991 and over the years has coached over 800 games as both the men's and women's head coach. He has 341 career victories. When he started coaching, the school was named Clinch Valley College and was a member of the Tennessee Valley Athletic Conference (now the Appalachian Athletic Conference). Over the decades the school has moved to the Mid-South Conference, then to the NCAA and the Mountain East Conference, and finally to the South Atlantic Conference.

Rowland played for the Highland Cavs as well and graduated in 1984.

Today's match was moved from earlier this season due to weather and because the regular season technically ended Sunday the match was played under the same rules as the SAC Tournament where play is halted whenever the doubles point is attained, and the fourth match point is reached.
