BLUFFTON, S.C. – The UVA Wise softball team wrapped up their Spring Break trip Wednesday and Thursday as they took a game apiece from Flagler and USC Beaufort.
The Highland Cavaliers dropped Wednesday's game one against Flager 9-0 in St, Augustine, Florida, before rallying to take the second game 7-5. On Thursday they exploded offensively in the 11-1 win over USC Beaufort before falling 3-2 to the Sand Sharks as a seventh inning rally falls short.
VS. FLAGLER:
- The Saints picked up three runs in the first inning and added insurance runs in the second and fourth innings to take the 9-0 win.

Adyson Gibson and
Mallory McKnight had UVA Wise's two hits in the contest.
- In game two the Cavs grabbed the early four run lead and added three more runs in the third before holding off a late Saints rally to grab the 7-5 victory.
- UVA Wise had six hits in the contest.
Sarah Barrett led the way with a run, two hits and three RBI while
Kara Long also tallied a run and two hits.
Brie Frazier and Gibson added in two runs apiece.

Alivia Nolley earned the pitching victory, while
Jillian Jones came in as a closer to help seal the victory.
VS. USC BEAUFORT
- The Cavs took advantage of game one miscues by the Sand Sharks to grab the 8-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The bases were loaded with two outs when McKnight singled to right field, driving in Frazier and Gibson.

Savannah Johnson then stepped up to the plate and blasted a three-run home run over the right field fence to give Wise the 5-0 lead. It was Johnson's first career home run. Frazier later doubled and drove in Gibson and
Mataya Ausmus to extend the lead.
- After USCB scored in the bottom of the third inning the Cavs used runs from Frazier, Long, and Barrett to extend the lead to 11-1.
- Six UVA Wise players tallied hits in the game, while Jones pitched a complete-game gem as she gave up only one run and three hits while fanning two batters.
- The offenses for both teams were slow to get going, with the Sand Sharks grabbing the lead off of a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the third inning. USCB then scored twice more in the bottom of the sixth inning from a sacrifice fly and a single to left field.
- UVA Wise made a rally in the top of the seventh with pinch hitter
Kendra Huff crossing the plate and
Emma McCauley later scoring from third on a wild pitch. The Cavs had a runner on third but were unable to get her home as USCB held on for the 3-2 win.
- McCauley led the way with a run and two hits; with Huff, Gibson and Barrett adding in a hit each.
