LATE-INNING RALLIES FALL SHORT IN FLORIDA

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The UVA Wise softball team continued their spring break trip Tuesday afternoon as they faced Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University for the first time in program history. The weather was perfect for softball as it was in the low 70s and sunny, but the scoreboard wasn't as kind as they fell to the Eagles 2-1 in game one and 6-1 in game two.

GAME ONE:
- The Eagles got on the board in the second inning as pinch runner Leah Oberkehr scored on a RBI single from Addison Orr.
- The Cavs tied the game in the top of the seventh inning as Brie Frazier scored from second on an outfield error. Embry-Riddle answered back in the bottom half of the inning as Lauren Latoria drove in Parker Ray with the walk-off single to right field.
- Hits were scarce for the game for both teams, with UVA Wise gathering two hits and the Eagles totaling three for the contest.
- Adyson Gibson and Frazier led the way for the Cavs with a hit apiece in addition to Frazier's run.
- Orr, Latoria, and Raissa Bianco accounted for the Eagle hits in game one.
- Bayleigh Allison took the loss for UVA Wise as she allowed two runs and three hits.

GAME TWO:
- Embry-Riddle (18-8) picked up two runs in the first inning, one in the third, and three in the sixth en route to the 6-1 win.
- Kara Long earned her second home run of the season in the top of the seventh inning with the solo blast over the right field wall.
- UVA Wise (9-15) had three hits in game two while the Eagles totaled eight for the game.

UP NEXT:
UVA Wise will travel an hour up the Florida coast as they will face Flagler College Wednesday afternoon at noon. The last time the two teams faced each other was in 2020.
