HOW IT HAPPENED
- The teams were tied at 4-4 when a basket by Makenzie Bremer sparked a 7-2 run. The Cavs extended it to 17-8 on a layup by Katlin Burger with 1:48 left in the quarter.
- Newberry cut the lead to 17-13 but then a three-pointer by Sable Burnside and a floater by Alissa Cheek put the lead back to nine. The Cavs would extend the lead back to six, but then have another cold spell over the final 3:17 and once again the Wolves took advantage, tying the game at 35-35 with less than a second left.
- UVA Wise would take the lead again by four, 41-37, but the Wolves would come back and tie the game once again. The teams swapped leads over the next several minutes before the Cavs went cold again and Hannah Nimmo scored the final six points of the game, breaking a 52-52 tie with 2:40 remaining to give the Wolves the 58-52 win.
