ANDERSON, SC – A strong start by Anderson allowed the Trojans to hold off all comeback efforts by the UVA Wise women's basketball team as they fell at Anderson 82-71 Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Trojans shot out to the 6-0 lead and extended it to 20-6 with 4:07 left in the quarter. The Cavs outscored the Trojans over the remainder of the period 10-6 to trail by 10 after the first quarter.
- UVA Wise then opened the second stanza with a 7-0 run and a layup by 
Jalie Ruehling cut the lead to 26-23 with 7:05 left in the half. The Trojans would extend the lead over the final minutes of the half and led 49-34 at the intermission.
- The Cavs outscored Anderson 16-14 in the third quarter but were unable to cut into the overall lead by more than a few points.
- UVA Wise made a run and cut the lead to 76-71 on an Emilia Preece three-pointer with 24 seconds left, but then they were forced to foul and the Trojans hit the free throws to hold on for the 82-71 win.
- The Trojans had five players score in double figures, led by Diamond McDowell, who led the team with 27 points and also had a game-high 12 rebounds. Zamiya Passmore had 15 points and nine assists.
- Anderson and UVA Wise both hit 30 field goals and six three pointers in the game. AU was 16-20 at the free throw line while UVA Wise was 5-7.
GETTING WISE
- Freshman 
Emilea Preece had a career day for the Cavs in the loss as she had 19 points and five rebounds, both career highs.
- 
Sable Burnside had 14 points, four rebounds, and a career high six steals. 
Jalie Ruehling added in five steals, which are a new career high for her.
- 
Katlin Burger scored 12 points and had four rebounds.
- 
Ella Karst scored nine points and had a team and career high six assists.
- 
Caroline Mullins scored eight points, pulled down five rebounds, and had three blocks.
