EMORY, VA – The Emory & Henry Wasps captured the win in the seventh Southwest Virginia Bowl as they took advantage of Highland Cavalier turnovers to claim the 62-14 win over UVA Wise Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Wasps scored first when they intercepted a pass by UVA Wise at the Cavalier 47 and took it in for the score six plays later. They added another score later in the quarter with a six yard touchdown run.
- E&H scored again on the Cavs' opening drive of the second quarter when they intercepted a pass and returned it 29 yards for the touchdown and then missed the PAT. The next drive had the same result, this time from the Wise 45-yard line and the PAT was good.
-The Cavaliers got on the board late in the second quarter when they drove 64 yards in nine plays and scored from the three-yard line on a pass from
Cooper Wick to
Seth Fischbach. The point after kick was blocked, and the score stood at 27-6 at the half.
- The Wasps scored three times in the third and twice in the fourth to make the score 62-6. UVA Wise would score late in the game when they took the ball 75 yards on seven plays before
Zavier Lomax scored on a one-yard rush with 32 seconds left. The Cavs would go for two and the pass was successful.

Cooper Wick would go the distance at quarterback, going 18-33-4 for 154 yards and a touchdown.

Ian Scammell was the leading rusher as he had 26 yards on 15 carries.
- Fischbach had five catches for 16 yards and a touchdown.

The Cavs will travel to Barton for the 2024 season finale next week. The Bulldogs are 3-7 overall and 2-6 in SAC play following a 40-26 loss at Limestone today. Kickoff is set for 2:00 PM.
