EMORY, VA – The Emory & Henry Wasps grabbed the lead in all three sets and held off determined comeback efforts by the UVA Wise volleyball team as they fell to the Wasps 3-0 Wednesday evening.
The loss evens up the season South Atlantic Conference series between the two as each team won on their home court.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Wasps went out to a quick lead, only to see the Cavs come back and tie it on five occasions. A pair of kills and a block by the Wasps pulled the hosts ahead by three, which they later extended to five points. They then held on for the 25-19 set one win.
- UVA Wise opened the second set with a 6-1 run, and led 10-3 before the Wasps rolled off a 9-1 run. From that point they never trailed and went on to take the set, 25-21.
- After tying the third set at 3-3, the Wasps seized the lad and never trailed en route to the 25-20 win in the set and captured the match.

Riley Brandon led the Cavs with nine kills each, while
Mailea Hufnagel added in seven.

Piper Suddeth led the team in assists with 18 and digs with seven.

Serina Petersen had three blocks each.
ABOUT THE WASPS
- Brianna Hogan led all players with 11 kills, and Hannah Watson had nine.
- Grace Nelson had 18 digs, and Watson led the Wasps with five of their team total of 11.0

The team returns home for the final time this season as they host Limestone for a SAC match Friday evening at 6 p.m. on the Quillen Court.
