ROCK HILL, SC – UVA Wise running back
Ian Scammell and wide receiver
Seth Fischbach have been named to the South Atlantic Conference All-Mountain Offense Team, conference officials announced today.
Scammell, a redshirt freshman from Grundy, Virginia, had 122 carries for 422 yards and four touchdowns, as well as nine receptions for 73 yards, for 422 yards of total offense. He averaged 42.2 yards a game, which led the team.
Fischbach, a redshirt junior from Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania, had 45 receptions for 514 yards, or 11.4 yards per catch, this season. He scored three touchdowns and averaged 51.4 yards a game.
This is the first time being named to an All-Conference team for Scammell or Fischbach.
The awards cap off a year of change and growth for the Cavalier football program under first-year head coach
Gary Bass.
This year's team tied for the most wins since 2017 with their 4-7 record. Their 2-5 SAC record is the second-best in program history since joining the SAC in 2019.
Their total scoring (17.09 points per game) was up from the previous year, and they held opponents to fewer points (31.5 ppg) than the previous year. They slashed their penalties per game almost in half from 2023 (59-508 this season compared to 90-929 in 2003) and improved their third down conversion percentage from last year.
The coaching staff will now hit the recruiting trail and seek to build on this year's successes and improvements, both on and off the field, when the team returns for Spring Practice in a few weeks, and in the 2025 season, which starts in August.
