DAHLONEGA, GA – The UVA Wise Men's Basketball team jumped out to early seven-point lead at the first media timeout and never looked back, as they cruised to the nine-point wire to wire victory over the ninth-ranked Nighthawks of The University of North Georgia.
The Cavaliers never trailed in a game that they led by as many as 22 points mid-way through the second half.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Evan Ramsey gave the Cavs the 2-0 lead on their first possession, and a layup by
Zy'Ever Wingfield on the next possession helped spark the team to a seven point lead. The teams then traded baskets for the rest of the half, with UVA Wise extending the lead to as much as eleven late and led 39-30 at the intermission.
- The Cavs extended the lead to 55-34 with 13:21 left and withstood a Nighthawk rally that cut it to eight late before holding on to win 76-67.
-Lav Cvetkovic led the Cavs with 19 points on a career-high five 3-pointers, to go along with four assists and five rebounds.

Evan Ramsey continued his strong start to the season for UVA Wise scoring 5 points on 7-9 shooting, to go along with 8 rebounds. The third time in three games Ramsey has scored 15 or more points.

Bradley Dean had a double-double for the Cavs, the third double-double of his UVA Wise Career, with 13 points and a career-best 11 assists.
-The stout Cavalier defense stifled the Nighthawks, who came in to the game averaging 80.8ppg, holding them to 41.7% shooting from the floor.
-Nighthawk Junior Center Colin Turner scored 30 points in a losing effort for University of North Georgia.
-The Cavaliers out rebounded the Nighthawks 36-31, nine UVA Wise players had double digit minutes and scored in the game.
-The Cavs shot 50% from the field and 85.7% from the free-throw line, which helped to seal the game late in the second half, after the Nighthawks hit a couple of late three-pointers to climb back within single digits.
-The University of North Georgia came in to the game 5-0 and ranked 9
th nationally, including wins over Limestone, Tusculum, and the number 1 nationally ranked team in the country Minnesota State, before suffering their first blemish of the season at the hands of UVA Wise.

UVA Wise will open up their South Atlantic Conference slate Wednesday with a trip to Emory and Henry University for a 7:30 PM tip. The Cavs have won 5 of their last 7 games against the Wasps, as they will look to open up conference play with a road victory. The Cavs home opener is scheduled for Saturday, November 23, as they will host the Coker Cobras for a 4:00 PM tip on The Quillen Court at the David J. Prior Convocation Center.
