WISE – The UVA Wise football team closes out the 2024 season this Saturday when they travel to Barton for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
This is also the last South Atlantic Conference game for Barton, as Conference Carolinas will be sponsoring football as a sport next season. The teams may meet in the future as non-conference regional opponents, however.
GETTING WISE
- The Cavs enter the game with a 3-6 overall record and a 2-5 record in SAC games. Should they win at Barton, the team would tie for their best record since joining the SAC and also tie for their best SAC record, both with the 2021 team.
- As a team, the Cavaliers are averaging 309.4 yards a game, while allowing 437.8 yards per contest. Opponents are out-rushing the Cavs 212.3-101.9 yards a game, while UVA Wise is narrowly trailing 225.4-207.6 yards a game in passing.
- Quarterback
Cooper Wick is 64-107-8 on the season for 714 yards with four touchdowns.

Ian Scammell is leading the team in rushing with 413 yards on 105 carries with four touchdowns.
Dejauvis Dozier has 90 carries for 352 yards and a touchdown.
- The receiving corps is led by
Dorien Goddard, who has 43 catches for 374 yards and three touchdowns.
Seth Fischbach has 39 receptions for 423 yards and three touchdowns.
DJ Powell also has more than 300 receiving yards from 30 catches.

Brub Hines III has 54 tackles, while
Jalen Pickens has 49 and AJ Stewart 41. Three Cavs have two sacks apiece.
ABOUT BARTON
- The Bulldogs are currently 3-7 overall and 2-6 in SAC play.
- They are averaging 283.7 yards a game, compared to 399.3 yards per game by their opponents. Opponents are out-rushing Barton 219.5-118.4 yards per contest, while Barton trails the opposition in passing yards 179.8-165.3.
- Their main quarterback is Trevor Nored, who is 103-197-7 on the season for 1,150 yards and three touchdowns. Al Lee has also seen time in two games, where he is 21-41-2 for 360 yards and two touchdowns.
- Jackson Parrish's 522 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on 126 carries leads the team. Dakauri Davis has three touchdowns and 377 yards on 97 carries. Tay Long is the only other rusher with more than 100 yards as he has 163 on 32 carries.
- Jaydon Flood-Brown has caught 40 passes for 609 yards and four touchdowns. Isaiah Jacobs has 262 yards on 22 catches, while Zakvil Smith has 252 yards and a touchdown on 17 receptions.
- Derrick Barringer leads the defense with 87 tackles and a sack. Matt Smith has 68 tackles, 4.5 for loss, and two sacks. Stanley Conner (54) and E'Lla Boykin (51) also have more than 50 tackles this season.
