HICKORY, NC – Playing their third match in five days, the UVA Wise volleyball team fell at South Atlantic Conference leader Lenoir-Rhyne Monday evening by a 3-0 score.
The match was originally scheduled for Tuesday evening, but due to makeup dates of matches postponed by Hurricane Helene it was moved to tonight.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bears shot out to the 6-1 lead, but UVA Wise fought back to cut it to 8-4 on a kill by
Braelynn Williams. LRU then went on another run and extended the lead to 17-10 and went on to take the 25-17 set one victory.
- After some adjustments by the coaching staff, the Cavs came out hitting and took a 7-3 lead on a kill by
Riley Brandon. The Bears then started chipping away and eventually tied the set at 12-12. They continued their scoring streak and out scored the Cavs down the stretch to take set two 25-16.
- The Bears then rolled out to a two point lead and never allowed UVA Wise to get any closer for the rest of the set as they took the third set 25-21 and claimed their 19
th win of the season.

Cassidy Farley (seven kills, six blocks) and Brandon (seven kills) led the team offensively. Defensively, they were led by
Abigail Curtis and
Kaylee Scarce with eleven digs apiece.
- Lenoir-Rhyne was led by Jenna Vogen and Averie Dale with nine kills each. Lyndsie Warren had nine digs to lead the Bears.
UP NEXT
The Highland Cavaliers will return home for a three-match homestand when they host Tusculum Wednesday evening and Wingate on Friday. They will close out the homestand on Oct. 29 when they host Carson-Newman. Wednesday's match is set for a 7 p.m. first serve on the Quillen Court.
