ANDERSON, SC – The homestanding Anderson Trojans weathered several runs by the UVA Wise Volleyball team but in the end escaped the Abney Athletic Center with the 3-1 win Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cavs led early in the first set 7-4, but a kill by AU's Ava Reeves sparked a 11-1 Trojan run and shot out to the 15-8 lead. UVA Wise cut the lead to three on a pair of occasions, but AU held on to grab the 25-19 win.
- The Trojans took a 3-0 lead to begin the second set. UVA Wise cut the lead to two, but AU pulled back out to a four-point cushion and held on for the 25-19 win.
- UVA Wise came out on fire in the third set, grabbing 16 kills and hitting .333 for the frame. They ran out to a 6-1 lead and held off a late AU run that cut it to 21-20. A pair of solo blocks by
Cassidy Farley helped seal the set for the Cavs and cut the match lead to 2-1.
- AU grabbed the lead and held off multiple Cavalier comeback efforts to capture the fourth set 25-18.
ABOUT THE CAVS

Kaylee Scarce (16 kills, 9 digs) and
Morgan Blevins (10 kills) led the Cavs offensively.

Riley Brandon and
Lily Gutierrez had 22 and 13 assists, respectively.

Abigail Curtis led the team defensively with 12 digs and Farley had five blocks.
ABOUT THE TROJANS
- Ava Reeves' double-double of 13 kills and 11 digs and Katy Smith's 14 digs led the team. Ellie Nieporte had 48 assists.
- The Trojans hit an impressive .325 for the match.
UP NEXT
The match at Erskine originally schedule for Saturday has been cancelled as Erskine has to make up several conference matches missed due to the recent weather woes. UVA Wise will now have six matches in ten days, with five of them being at home. First up is Wednesday's meeting with Lincoln Memorial University. The Railsplitters come to town with an 11-4 overall and 8-3 SAC record following their 3-1 win at Catawba earlier tonight.
