CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. - - Thomas Moore's first home game as an NCAA Division II member will be one to remember as the Saints limited visiting UVA Wise to 96 yards of total offense en route to a 37-0 victory at Republic Bank Field.
Thomas More (1-1) forced a three-and-out on UVA Wise's (1-1) first possession of the game and six plays player Mike Kirch hauled in a 16-yard touchdown pass from Rae'Von Vaden to give the Saints a lead that would never be questioned.
Vaden finished the game with 124 passing yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 67 yards and a score. While the signal had a big day, it was the Saints' defense that told the tale. Thomas More forced three turnovers while holding UVA Wise to a single rushing yard as the Cavaliers were held scoreless for the first time since 2017.
The Saints also received a trio of made field goals from Luke Iden and the first collegiate touchdown run from Emable Wakilongo to aid the offense.
Tyrese Randall was a bright spot on the Cavs' defense as he registered a game-high nine tackles.
The Cavaliers will return to action next Saturday for the South Atlantic Conference opener against Barton College. Kickoff from Wilson, N.C. is scheduled for 4 p.m.
