WISE — UVA Wise weren't able to recover from a 7-4 second period deficit against Limestone on Saturday, falling to the Saints by a score of 15-12 at Carl Smith Stadium.
Limestone's Sarah Dudick made the first move for the Saints (4-2, 1-1 SAC) to get her squad on the board. Brooke Surace added the Saint's score at the 9:22 mark before Katie Allen age the Cavs a push with a goal with 1:44 to go in the first.
The Cavs held the Saints to five goals compared to their four goals in the second. Mallory Trimble, Caitlyn Schultz and Allen paced UVA Wise with a combined four goals as the Cavs found themselves down by two at the half.
Logen Davis struck first the for the Cavs coming out of the break, putting the score at 7-6 before Hjertaas gave the Saints a leg-up with a 8-6 score. By the end of the quarter, Kylie Porter gave the Saints a 9-7 edge.
Ashley Fisher got the Cavs rolling in the fourth with a free-position goal at the 9:53 mark. Despite another goal from Trimble in the fourth, Sarah Dudick took control with back-to-back goals to give Limestone a 12-9 lead. The Saints would hold the lead until the finish, finalizing a 15-12 triumph.
Issie Brown led the Cavs with 8 draw controls on the day while Trimble and Allen each put up a hat trick to the stat line. Schultz finished with a team-high seven points.
Olivia Toomer in goal for the Cavs finished with 11 saves.
