Box Score 2 ATHENS, W.Va. - - Concord baseball alum Brandon Costa took his UVA Wise club to his old stomping grounds Saturday as the team claimed a pair of wins by scores of 9-6 and 13-4 at Anderson Field.
UVA Wise (6-12) used a seven-run seventh inning in the opener to overcome a 3-2 deficit en route to the victory.
Cole Harness had a two-run single in the frame before a three-run homer by Jeb Hurst highlighted the big inning.
Concord (4-8) scored three times in their final trip to the plate but, Hunter Anderson finished the deal to secure the game-one win.
The Cavaliers lined 12 hits with DJ Dickson, Matt Frye, Hunter Meador, and D'Sean Prinkleton having two hits each.
Prinkleton homered in the win while scoring a pair of runs and walking two as part of his two-hit game.
Nash Bingham earned the mound win for UVA Wise by tossing a scoreless sixth.
Game two saw Costa's crew erupt for late runs again. Harness homered as part of a six-run sixth with Dickson adding a two-run double.
An inning later, the Cavs plated five runs to put the game out of reach. Morgan Miller lined a two-run single to put an exclamation point on the inning.
Miller finished the game 3-for-4 with three RBI to lead the offensive effort.
The series wraps up with a doubleheader Sunday starting at 12 p.m.
