SALISBURY, N.C./HARROGATE, TENN. — UVA Wise wasn't able to secure a win in conference play this weekend against the Catawba Indians and the Coker Cobras this weekend, falling 7-0 and 5-2.
Catawba had control in their matchup on Saturday, sweeping doubles and singles play — improving their record to 4-0 in the SAC.
Notably, Sara Nichols and Emily Syms put up a tough fight against Nika Dundovic and Tina Gomes in the No. 3 spot, but fell by a score of 6-4.
In singles, Lucy Cunliffe pushed back in the No. 2 spot, but fell by scores of 6-2, 6-3.
Against Coker, Amelia Monteith and Emily Syms in the No. 3 doubles spot reigned supreme with a 6-1 score.
Despite the Cobras taking the overall win, Syms and Monteith added to their triumphant day each with a singles win at No. 4 and No. 6.
Up next, UVA Wise will face Mars Hill in a rescheduled match on Wednesday, March 22 at 4 PM.
