ATHENS, W.VA. — The UVA Wise Cavaliers' win streak came to a halt on Friday in their Concord Classic finale as the Concord Mountain Lions came out on top by a score of 3-0 (19-25, 20-25, 20-25).

The Cavs (3-1, 0-0 SAC) found themselves in a rut at the beginning of the first set as Amber Hall of the Mountain Lions (2-5, 0-0 MEC) took control offensively. Although senior Cavs leader Adison Minor kept her squad afloat, Hall had led Concord to a seven-point lead that eventually solidified their victory, 25-19.

The Mountain Lions used their victory as momentum into the next set, taking six of the first seven points. UVA Wise began to crawl their way back from the deficit, with Minor, Conner, and a service ace from Cassidy Farley put them within three.

After a lengthy back-and-forth effort from each squad, three consecutive kills from Concord's Gracie Brackney and Kenzie Chaffin gave way to a 21-15 Concord lead. Although two late Concord attack errors put the Cavs within four at the match point, Concord was able to seal to deal with a Steele kill to win 25-20.

In the third set, the Cavs and the Mountain Lions were neck-and-neck until Cavalier miscues invigorated a 19-13 Concord lead. In a similar fate to the previous set, the Cavs lost in a five point deficit, 25-20.

Minor led the Cavs with a nine-kill day while Lily Gutierrez once again led her team in assists with 17.
