FLORENCE, Ala. - - North Alabama's first home game as a full NCAA Division I FCS member did not get off to the best of starts but, the Lions recovered from a 14-point first-quarter deficit to score a 49-17 victory over NCAA Division II UVA Wise at Braly Stadium Saturday.
North Alabama (1-1) used a 21-point second quarter to take a lead it would not relinquish. ShunDerrick Powell ignited the Lions' offense with a 75-yard rushing touchdown at the 13:22 mark of the second quarter. The back helped the host tie the game later in the quarter when he darted in from seven yards out to cap a 6-play, 55-yard drive.
UVA Wise (1-1) regained the lead with 2:28 to play in the first half when Kellan Dalton booted a 31-yard field goal.
