NOTES ON UVA WISE
- Head Coach Alyssa Hanley and the Cavs snatched a 3-0 win (25-19, 25-15, and 25-14) against Bluefield State in their season debut on Saturday, Aug. 27.
- Sophomore Kaylee Scarce put on a career-high and game-high performance with 13 kills and 14.5 points, with Lily Gutierrez adding in a leading 14 assists
- in her first collegiate match, freshman Kinley Norris recorded a double-double of 13 assists and 10 digs.
NOTES ON BLUEFIELD STATE
-The Big Blue hold a 1-1 record to date, with a win against DIII opponent Johnson & Wales (3-1) and a loss to the Cavs (0-3)
- In the Big Blue vs. Cavaliers matchup, sophomore Kateryna Dashevska led her squad with eight kills and nine digs, while freshman Aydan Dalak held a game-high 19 assists in the match
NOTES ON SALEM
- in the 2021 season, the Tigers went 3-23 with wins against Glenville State (3-2), Lincoln (3-0), and Bluefield State (3-0)
- As of Aug. 31, the Salem Tigers remain winless in the 2022 season with an 0-6 record, and have yet to win a set
- Senior Makhia Hinton is the Tigers' leader with 29 kills in their six matches of the season, with sophomore Gabriela Chaparro Coss aiding with 40 assists and newcomer Brianna Sotelo collecting a leading 47 digs
NOTES ON CONCORD
- in the 2021 season, the Mountain Lions held a 9-17 record overall and a 4-12 record in the Mountain East Conference
- As of Aug. 31, Concord is 0-4 to begin their season, with losses against Nova Southeastern (1-3), Mount Olive (0-3), North Greenville (0-3), and Wingate (0-3)
- leading the Mountain Lions is sophomore Hannah Steele with 29 kills on the year thus far, while freshman Kenzee Chafin adds 80 assists and sophomore Gracie Brackney leads defensively with 39 digs
