ETTRICK, VA — The UVA Wise men's tennis team dominated over the Virginia State Trojans in a shutout on Friday, April 15, winning 7-0.
In doubles play, veterans Dominic Hoffman and Luke Jarnagin quickly took down opponents Nigel Stewart and Laurance Britt in a nail-biting 7-5 No. 1 spot.
In the second doubles matchup, the Trojans' (0-9) Jalen Bell and Ronald Dogan only grabbed one game as Coleton Burke and John Robert Kilgore took the 6-1 win.
In the final doubles face-off, Dylan Galenski and Siddarth Selvakumar swiped through a 6-2 win, marking the first complete doubles sweep for the Cavs since October 2, 2021.
The Cavaliers (6-17) kept their rally steady in singles play as Hoffman snagged a win against Stewart by scores of 6-0, 6-3.
In the No. 2 slot, Britt forced a tiebreaker but it was Burke who came out on top with the win by 7-5.
No, 3 and No. 5 singles saw the Trojans and the Cavs in supersets, as Jarnigan and Galenksi prevailed in 10-3 wins each.
No. 4 and No. 6 matchups saw Kilgore and Selvakumar take down Dogan and Alan Diggs in swift sets, snagging the overall 7-0 Cavalier victory.
With the win, the Cavs improve to 6-17 overall.
