HICKORY, N.C. — The UVA Wise men's tennis team were unable to secure a conference win against the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears today, falling 7-0.
Dominic Hoffman and
Dylan Galenski were paired up first for No. 1 doubles, and fell to Lenoir-Rhyne opponents Rhodri Atkinson and Josh Lazenby by a score of 6-0.
The next two doubles matchups for Cavalier duos
Coleton Burke and
Luke Jarnagin and
John Robert Kilgore and
Siddarth Selvakumar ended in the same 6-0 scores, signifying a Lenoir-Rhyne doubles point victory.
In singles play, Hoffman and Atkinson's matchup ended in a Cavalier loss as the Bear took a 6-1, 6-0 win.
The next five singles slots ended in tough Cavalier losses, as Burke fell to Lanzenby in No. 2, Jarnagin lost to Scott in No. 3, Mauricio Hernandez defeated Kilgore in the No. 4 slot, Galenksi fell to Connor Gibson in the fifth spot, and Selvakumar couldn't take the win against Mattias Selde in the singles finale.
Next, the UVA Wise Cavaliers travel to Newberry College on March 12 to face the Wolves at 1:00 PM.
