WISE - - Andrew Keene belted three homers and Lincoln Memorial University took advantage of seven UVA Wise errors as the Railsplitters claimed a 17-4 South Atlantic Conference victory at Stallard Field Friday.
LMU STRIKES FIRST
LMU scored a pair of runs in the top of the first off a UVA Wise error and a RBI groundout from Tucker Hagan.
CAVS RESPOND
Clay Taylor lined an RBI single to score Bret Roberts before a Colby Welborn two-run double off the right centerfield wall gave UVA Wise the lead. Brandon Costa's squad plated a fourth run when Jude Drzemiecki beat out an infield single to score Welborn.
'SPLITTERS ERUPT
The remainder of the game belonged to the guests. Keene hit his first homer of the day, a two-run shot in the second to tie the game. In the fourth inning, LMU scored five times behind four hits and an error. The big blow in the frame came from Brandon Parrott who doubled in three runs.
Keene would hit two more homers to lead a 16-hit, 17-run effort.
ON THE MOUND
Bryce Woody earned the mound win by going six innings, allowing four runs (three earned), striking out seven and scattering nine hits. Brennan Murphy, Jaylen Morgan and Trey Schulz would combine to fire three scoreless innings of relief.
BOX SCORE NOTES
Roberts reached base four times, three times by way of hit, while swiping two bags to lead UVA Wise. Keene knocked in five runs while three other LMU players knocked in multiple runs.
