CAVS GRAB THIRD CONSECUTIVE CONFERENCE WIN, BEAT COBRAS BY 1

WISE, VA — A 55.1-percent showing from the field and four Cavaliers scoring in double-digit figures lead the way to a tight 73-72 victory over the Coker Cobras in the David J. Prior Convocation Center on Monday, Feb. 7.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

The Cobras and the Cavaliers were neck-and-neck in the first half until the 10:52 mark when Xavier Measmer dropped a three-pointer to put their squad ahead of the Cavs by seven.

Measmer proved to be the biggest obstacle of the Cavs from the arc, dropping three of them to keep the Cobras at the fore. Going into the break, Coker maintained a two-point lead after a total of four lead-changes in the half.

In the second, the first nine minutes never saw a Cobras or Cavaliers significant lead. The Cavaliers soon galvanized an eight-point unanswered run led by a Bradley Dean downtown bucket at the 11:52 mark, forcing the Cobras into panic mode. With Coker only hitting 18-percent from three-point range, The Cavaliers would maintain the lead for the rest of the contest, solidified by Makai Vassell's four sank-free throws and a tough dunk by Joel Pettiford.

For two games in a row, Bradley Dean stayed fiery from the field, dropping eight field goals and three three-pointers to throttle the Cavaliers through their third South Atlantic Conference win in a row. The win marks their longest win streak since 2018, and their longest win streak for the program while in the South Atlantic Conference.

CAVS LEADERS:

Dean once again led the Cavaliers with 29 points. Teammate Isaiah McAmis put up a solid 17 points consisting of five three-pointers and eight field goals.

COKER LEADERS:

Measmer led the Trojans with 15 points, with Jones and Williams Onyeodi putting up 14 points each.
