Match Recap: Men's Tennis | | Chloe Burdette

MEN'S TENNIS DEFEATED BY WASPS 6-1

EMORY, VA – Men's tennis fell 6-1 to the Emory & Henry Wasps Saturday morning in their second match of the season. 

In No. 1 singles, Jake Ferner was defeated by Emory & Henry's Brandon McGuire (6-4, 7-5). In No. 2, Dominic Hoffman was taken down (6-3, 6-2) by Archer Marlow, while Coleton Burke fell by 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 to the Juan Alvarez. At No. 4 singles, Cavalier Luke Jarnigan fell 6-2, 6-0 to his opponent Corey Garrity. John Robert Kilgore fell by scores of 6-1 and 6-0 by Zeke Workman of Emory & Henry. Dylan Galenski of the Cavs was the only victor of the day, with a 6-1, 6-1 win against Zeke Workman.

In the doubles, partners Ferner and Hoffman for the Cavaliers were not able to secure the win, losing 6-3 to Wasps' Alvarez and Marlow. In No. 2 doubles, Cavaliers Burke and Jarnigan also fell to their opponents McGuire and Garrity 6-3. At No. 3, Cavaliers Kilgore and Galenski snagged a win (6-2) against Garcia and Workman of the Wasps.

The UVA Wise tennis teams resume play on Sunday, Sept. 19 at home against Roanoke College, starting at 12:00 p.m.
