80 UVA Wise Student-Athletes Named to 2020-21 SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll

ROCK HILL, S.C. – UVA Wise had 80 student-athletes named to the 2020-21 South Atlantic Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll as the league office announced this year's Honor Roll selections Wednesday afternoon. To be eligible for inclusion on the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll, student-athletes must have competed in a sponsored championship sport and maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher throughout the academic year.

Football and softball each placed 11 student-athletes on the list while women's lacrosse had 10 players garner the honor. Baseball saw nine players recognized as women's basketball added seven student-athletes to the list. Women's cross country and men's basketball each had six student-athletes receive the accolade.

Five volleyball players were named to the Honor Roll while women's golf placed four student-athletes on the list. Men's golf, women's tennis, and men's tennis each had three players recognized while men's cross country had two student-athletes honored.

A record 2,589 student-athletes, spanning each of the South Atlantic Conference's 13 member institutions and 22 sports, were named to the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll.

"We are thrilled to recognize more than 2,500 of our student-athletes for their outstanding academic accomplishments," said SAC Commissioner Patrick Britz. "This was an extremely challenging year for everyone in college athletics, and along with the help of our coaches and administrators, our student-athletes where able to continue to strive for excellence on the playing field and court, as well as in the classroom. We are extremely proud of their hard work and dedication throughout this entire year."
