GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – Men's tennis was swept on the road Friday afternoon, 7-0, by the Pioneers of Tusculum University at the Nichols Tennis Complex in Greeneville, Tennessee.
Sophomore Jake Ferner and junior Dominic Hoffman teamed up at the No. 1 doubles spot for the Cavs (1-11, 0-9 SAC) as the pair fell to Tusculum's Nemanja Sebanovic and Frank Bonacia, 6-1. Senior Coleton Burke and junior Luke Jarnagin dropped their doubles match by the same score, 6-1, to the Pioneers Leon Huk and Dmitry Bezborodov while sophomores Connor Giza and John Robert Kilgore were swept, 6-0, at the No. 3 position.
In singles, Ferner fell 6-0, 6-1, at No. 1 to Tusculum's Bezborodov while Hoffman and Burke each dropped their match by a score of 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 2 and No. 3 spot, respectively. Jarnagin was swept 8-0 by the Pioneers Marco Meon at No. 4 as Giza dropped his match 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 5 spot. Kilgore was topped 8-1 at No. 6 by the Pioneers Max Stam as Tusculum picked up the sweep.
Head coach Roger Whited's team will return to action Tuesday for a road match at Carson-Newman. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
