WISE – Women's tennis dropped its regular season finale Sunday afternoon 5-2 to Anderson University. Juniors Liza Akimenko and Katya Akimenko secured wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 singles spots for the Cavaliers.

In doubles action, Liza and Katya Akimenko teamed up at No. 1 for UVA Wise (2-14, 0-11 SAC) fell to Anderson's (8-5, 5-5 SAC) Anna Greer and Katie Robeson 6-2 while junior Grace Hall and freshman Sarah Moore were swept at the No. 2 spot. The Trojans won at No. 3 doubles by default to take the doubles point.

Liza Akimenko outlasted her opponent at No. 1 singles in a 7-5, 6-2 defeat of Greer. Katya Akimenko picked up another win for the Cavs at No. 2 as she topped the Trojans Carrigan Blanchard in a battle, 6-4, 6-3. Hall and fellow junior Lillian Morris were swept at the No. 3 and No. 5 position, respectively. Moore dropped her match at No. 4, 8-0, while the Trojans gained a default win at the No. 6 spot.

Head coach Danny Rowland's squad will return to action in the fall.
