CHARLOTTE, N.C. – UVA Wise was swept on the road at No. 13 Queens (NC) Sunday afternoon, 7-0.
In doubles play, sophomore Jake Ferner and junior Dominic Hoffman teamed up at No. 1 for the Cavaliers (1-8, 0-6 SAC) as the pair fell short, 6-3, to the Royals (10-2, 8-1 SAC) Berk Enc and Jan Malmon. Senior Coleton Burke and junior Luke Jarnagin were swept by Queens (NC) Arthur Bazil and Aidan Davy at No. 2 while sophomores John Robert Kilgore and Dylan Galenski were topped 6-1 at the No. 3 spot.
Ferner was outlasted at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-1, by Queens (NC) Yoan Roussinov as Hoffman and Burke were both swept at the No. 2 and No. 3 position. At No. 4, Jarnagin was defeated by the Royals Euan Lynes, 6-0, 6-4, while Srisich dropped his match at No. 6, 6-1, 6-0.
Head coach Roger Whited's squad will head home to take on Lincoln Memorial University Tuesday afternoon. First serve is slated for 3:30 p.m. at the Jim & Betty Humphreys Tennis Complex.
