The UVA Wise Cavaliers volleyball team will have two back-to-back home matches to finish off their regular season this Friday, Nov. 12 and Saturday, Nov. 13. On Saturday, the programs seniors Matelyn Gibson and Kelsey Green will be honored before the slated first serve at 5:00 p.m. in the David J. Prior Convocation Center.
 
Gibson, the senior from Abingdon, Va., currently serves as the leader in digs for the team at 195. Last season, she finished out the unprecedented year with 1.71 kills per game in the seven matches played. Currently, she has racked up 401 kills and 472 digs on her UVA Wise career.
 
Green, the senior from Altavista, Va., has the no. 2 spot on UVA Wise's leaderboard with 125 kills - with a season-high 14 kills against Concord on Sep. 22, 2021. Green also sits in the top spot on the team for service aces with 26 on the year. Last season, Green averaged 2.17 kills per game in 4 matches played. As of right now, Green has 484 kills and 306 digs on her UVA Wise career.
 
Weekend Competition:
Lincoln Memorial
The last matchup between UVA Wise and Lincoln Memorial was held on Sep. 24, 2021 where the Railsplitters took the win 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-16).Currently, LMU sits at a 8-18 record and are 4-12 in the South Atlantic Conference (SAC). Notably, the Railsplitters snagged an unexpected 3-0 win against the King University Tornado (Conference Carolinas) who were the reigning Conference Carolinas Conference Champions last season and currently sit at a 15-13 record.
 
Carson Newman
The Carson Newman Eagles, another SAC competitor, are 17-12 in the conference. They last played UVA Wise on Sep. 24, 2021 and won 3-0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-13). Julia Wheeler of the Eagles is ranked second in the SAC for kills per set at 3.54 and leads the SAC In kills on the season with 396.
