A New Season is Upon Us         

• UVA Wise is in its first season as a South Atlantic Conference member.
• Seniors Tyler Blaum and Greg Duncan earned Preseason All-SAC honors. Blaum was a First-Team All-SAC selection at catcher while Duncan garnered Second-Team All-SAC accolades as a pitcher
• The Cavaliers won 26 games in 2019, the most for the program since winning 27 games in 2010.        

Inside the South Atlantic Conference

• Defending SAC Tournament Champion Catawba has been tabbed as the league's preseason favorite. The Indians also hold the top spot in the Preseason NCBWA Southeast Region Poll.
• Fellow SAC member Newberry was picked fifth in the regional poll while Lincoln Memorial is eighth and Wingate is receiving votes.
• All 12 SAC programs will open play this weekend with Queens University facing No. 1 University of Tampa Saturday at 5 p.m. in the Sunshine State.

Did You Know?                             

• Greg Duncan enters his senior season ninth in school history with 155 strikeouts. The right-hander is 45 strikeouts shy of becoming the third pitcher in school history to reach 200 career strikeouts.
• UVA Wise has lost consecutive season openers. The Cavaliers last won on Opening Day in 2017 when the team knocked off St. Augustine's 9-2.
• The Cavs have nine seniors on this year's roster. The number is the most seniors on a team since 2016 when 10 seniors were part of the roster.
• The season opening series with Paine College will mark the first time the two schools have played on the baseball diamond.
• Head Coach Hank Banner's 466 wins are the most by any baseball coach in school history.
• UVA Wise begins the season with a 15-game road trip. Last year, the Cavs were 11-20 away from Stallard Field.
