Cavaliers Drop Two Matches at Home

WISE - - Cavalier men's tennis fell in back-to-back matches against West Liberty University, 7-0, and West Virginia Wesleyan College, 7-0, Saturday afternoon.

In the Cavs first match, sophomore Coleton Burke and freshman Dominic Hoffman were the only Cavaliers to win a game in doubles play with a 6-1 defeat at the No. 1 position. Freshman Luke Jarnagin and junior John Hamilton lost 6-0 at the No. 2 position, with junior Daniel Laughlin and senior Jakub Blach also falling 6-0 at the No. 3 position to the Hilltoppers.

Hamilton had the most success in singles play for the Cavs, but he fell 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 4 position. Hoffman won four games in a 6-3, 6-1 defeat at the No. 2 position, while Jarnagin lost at the No. 3 position 6-2, 6-1.

In their second match of the day, Burke and Hoffman lost 6-1 at the No. 1 position in doubles play, while Jarnagin and Hamilton also fell 6-1 at the No. 2 position. Laughlin and Blach were defeated at the No. 3 position 6-0 as the Bobcats swept the doubles point. 

Hamilton was the only Cavalier to win a game in singles play, as he was defeated at the No. 4 position 6-2, 6-1. UVa-Wise lost at all of the other singles positions by 6-0, 6-0 scores. 

The Cavaliers will head on the road for their next four matches as they try to earn their first win of the season. They will play next at University of Charleston on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Cavaliers' next home match will be on April 17 when they host King University in a non-conference match.
