ATHENS, W. Va. – The Cavaliers were stifled on the road in a 3-0 (25-9, 25-21, 25-16) loss to the Mountain Lions of Concord University Tuesday evening.

Concord (7-16) jumped out to a double-digit, 12-2, advantage to start the first set. The Mountain Lions remained dominant to open the match as Concord took the opening set, 25-9.

UVa-Wise (1-20) took its first lead of the night in the second set, but Concord used a 6-0 run to pull ahead 9-4. The Cavs managed to climb from behind to tie the set, 18-18, on a kill by sophomore Kelsey Green. Back-to-back points later in the second set for Concord forced a Cavalier timeout as the Mountain Lions gained a 22-19 advantage. Another kill by Green put UVa-Wise down, 22-21, but three straight points for Concord gave the Mountain Lions a 25-21 second set victory.

Trailing to start the third set, the Cavs won four consecutive points to cut Concord's lead to one point, 13-12. The Mountain Lions responded with a 6-0 run to take a 19-13 advantage over the Cavs. Concord maintained its lead as the Mountain Lions posted a 25-16 set three win to take the match in straight sets, 3-0.
