WISE – Men's tennis dropped its first match of the fall in a 7-0 loss to Milligan College Wednesday evening.
UVa-Wise was unable to win a match in doubles play as Milligan secured the point for a 1-0 advantage. Freshmen duo Cleve Packer and Connor Giza fell at No. 1, 6-1, while junior Coleton Burke and sophomore Luke Jarnagin were swept, 6-0, at No. 2. Freshmen John Robert Kilgore and James Srsich put up a fight at the No. 3 spot, but were outlasted in a 6-4 loss.
Milligan earned a sweep at the No. 1 singles position as Packer fell to his opponent. Burke was defeated 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 while Giza was swept at No. 3. Jarnagin fell 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4 while Kilgore (6-1, 6-1) and Srsich (6-1, 6-2) were defeated at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
Head coach Roger Whited's team will return to action this weekend taking on King University on the road Saturday at noon.
