- Coach Salyer's team comes into this weekend's matches winless in the South Atlantic Conference as the Cavs look to pick up a league victory this weekend. The Cavs dropped a pair of contest this past weekend on the road at Newberry College and Anderson University.
- The Cavaliers are led in kills this season by redshirt senior Ciara Kain who has posted 122 so far this season, placing her 17th in the conference in the category. The outside hitter has added 138 digs and six service aces this year.
- Junior Makayla Ledford's team-leading 213 assists rank her 12th in the league, averaging 7.61 assists per set. Senior Morgan Milligan's 215 digs rank ninth in the league while her team-high 17 service aces rank her tied for 13th in the conference.
- Junior Brooke Abbott's .246 attack percentage marks a team-high while placing her 17th among league leaders. Her five assisted blocks rank her tied for 14th in the SAC while she leads the Cavs with 27 total blocks this campaign.
- UVa-Wise heads back on the road next weekend for matches at Catawba College and Queens (N.C.) Friday night and Saturday afternoon. The Cavs then return home for a match against Tusculum Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m.
Notes on No. 23 Wingate University
- The undefeated Wingate Bulldogs visit Wise for a Friday night matchup after winning their last six home matches, giving up just one set across those contests.
- Head Coach Shelton Collier's team will look to pick up their third road win of the season with the help of junior Sophie Schaff who leads her team with 146 kills and a .299 attack percentage. Her kills rank her fourth in the league while her attack percentage places her eighth among league leaders.
- Sophomore Shannon Kasprak and senior Rachel Alles lead the Bulldogs in assists, tallying 291 and 286, respectively, this year. Kasprak ranks seventh in the conference while Alles comes in at eighth among league leaders.
- Wingate's Treslyn Ortiz has recorded a team-high 251 digs for the Bulldogs this season, averaging 4.92 per set. The senior is ranked third in the SAC in digs and fifth in digs per set this campaign.
- The Bulldogs will stay on the road for their next four matches before returning back to North Carolina.
Notes on Coker University
- Head coach Travis Nead's squad will come to Wise Saturday following a road match at Tusculum Friday evening. The Cobras have notched a 4-9 overall record, 1-8 in South Atlantic Conference play, with just one road win so far this season.
- Sophomore Emily Everton and senior Taylor du Bray have totaled almost 300 kills this season with Everton accumulating a team-high 142 while du Bray has posted 123 this season. Everton's 142 kills place her fifth among conference leaders as she averages 3.17 kills per set.
- Junior Ashley Carson has notched 292 assists for Coker this year as she leads her team in the category and ranks sixth in the conference.
- Four Cobras have exceeded 100 digs on the season, led by freshman Camryn Tate who has 173 to date followed by sophomore Olivia Cerick who has tallied 121 so far this campaign. Carson adds 119 digs while Everton is close behind with 117 digs this year.
- Coker will stay on the road for a pair of matches next weekend and then return home for three-straight contests.
