WISE - - UVa-Wise dropped a pair of games to Fairmont State University Friday afternoon. The Fighting Falcons won game one 16-0 before a 12-run seventh inning gave the visitors a 14-7 win in the finale.

Michael Stout improved to 5-1 on the mound for FSU (10-13, 5-5 MEC) in the opener as the left-hander struck out 10 in six innings of work.

While Stout was spinning a gem, the Fighting Falcons' offense lined 21 hits in the game one triumph. Tyler Hill went 4-for-4 while Ben Myers went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBI.

Game two saw UVa-Wise (8-15, 5-5 MEC) take a 6-2 lead after five innings. David Thomas and Brett Yates had two RBI each while Matt Wright and Cal Bailey also had an RBI.

The game would unravel for Hank Banner's squad in the top of the seventh as FSU pushed across 12 runs in the decisive frame. The Cavaliers committed two errors in the inning which led to 10 of the runs in the inning being unearned.

Banner's club will be back in action tomorrow at 1 p.m. against Shepherd University at Stallard Field.
