LOUISVILLE, Ky. – UVa-Wise softball is receiving votes in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll. The Cavaliers (11-5) received 17 votes in the most recent poll. This is the second consecutive year the program has received votes in the poll.

UVa-Wise is one of two Mountain East Conference schools featured in the poll with MEC preseason favorite Shepherd University receiving two votes.

The Cavs are coming off of a 4-0 weekend at the Pioneer Classic, improving to 11-5 to start the season. UVa-Wise will look to continue its win streak as the team opens conference play on the road this weekend with doubleheaders against West Virginia State on Saturday, Mar. 17, and the University of Charleston on Sunday, Mar. 18.

The 2018 NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll is voted on by 16 NCAA Division II head coaches with two representing each of the eight NCAA regions. Records reflect games played through March 11, 2018.
