COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - - UVa-Wise scored the first six goals of the second half to claim a 15-11 victory over the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs to wrap up the Cavaliers' spring break trip Thursday. The win improved Meghan Dennehy's team to 4-1 on the year and allowed the squad to finish 2-1 on the trip.
Kristin Gobbi scored a pair of goals in the decisive stretch while McKayla Grasham scored one of her game-high four goals as the Cavaliers turned an 8-7 halftime lead to a 14-7 advantage.
Colorado Springs (3-2) would score four of the game's final five goals but would be unable to get any closer than four goals in the home loss.
Carly Coyle (3) joined Grasham as UVa-Wise players with hat tricks in the win. Hannah Marshall netted a pair of goals, scooped four groundballs, caused three turnovers and added an assist while Sydney Steinberg dished out three assists as part of a five-point game as the Cavs won their second consecutive game.
Next up, UVa-Wise will host Slippery Rock on March 10 with first draw scheduled for 1 p.m.
