WISE - - Cavalier volleyball was outlasted by the University of Charleston, 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-16), on Friday night. The Cavs posted 23 kills and 19 assists as they closed out the season inside the Prior Center.

UVa-Wise (6-24, 2-14) went up 4-2 in the first set over Charleston (15-13, 11-4) before the Golden Eagles managed to chip away at the lead to take a 10-6 advantage. The Cavs would rally back to tie the game, 16-16, later in the set. Charleston ended the set on a 5-1 run to earn the 25-19 victory.

The Golden Eagles stayed in rhythm heading into the second set, going up 12-7 over the Cavs. Behind a .250 attack percentage, Charleston would extend their lead 20-14, forcing a timeout by UVa-Wise. The Golden Eagles would go on another 5-1 run to finish the second set, winning by a score of 25-15.

The Cavs fell behind early in the third as Charleston took a 10-6 lead. UVa-Wise would respond going on a 4-1 run to cut the Golden Eagles lead to one point, 11-10. Charleston would win the third set, 25-16, and earn the sweep over the Cavs.

Junior Ciara Kain recorded seven kills and 11 digs in the match while freshman Madelyn Lawrence added four kills and four digs. Sophomore Morgan Milligan led the Cavs in assists with 11 and tallied five digs while sophomore Briana Kerr posted 13 digs for UVa-Wise.

Charleston's Jour'Ney Powell and Janeese Vervelde tallied 11 kills apiece in the win. The Golden Eagles' Chloe Massaro posted 19 assists while Clair Lambert registered a double-double with 17 assists and 10 digs in the match.
