GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - - Tusculum College used a six-run first inning to claim its 11th win of the year, 11-0 over visiting UVa-Wise at Pioneer Park Wednesday.

Tusculum (11-4) had five consecutive hitters reach base after Jeremy Glore grounded out to begin the home half of the first to aid its fast start. The big blow in the frame came when Kevin Victoriano hit a two-run home run down the left field line. Victoriano's shot put the hosts up 5-0, the Pioneers added a sixth run on a Tandon Dorn RBI single with two outs in the inning.

UVa-Wise (7-4) struggled to get much offensive going. Playing its fifth game in four days, the Cavaliers got their first base runner in the fourth inning on an infield single by Steven Klaiber. The visitors' best scoring chance of the day came in the fifth inning when Matt Wright singled to put runners on first and second with one out. Tusculum ended the threat by getting a 6-4-3 double play to end the inning.

Tusculum added single runs in the third and fourth inning before plating three in the seventh. The three runs were aided by a pair of walks and a hit batter.

Ty Lighton was the only Cav to post a multi-hit game, the senior picked up two hits from his leadoff position.

The loss ends what was a four-game winning streak for UVa-Wise. The Cavs are scheduled to have their home opener Saturday when Bluefield State College visits Burchell Stallard Field.
