WISE, Va. – The UVa-Wise women's volleyball team travels to Brevard, North Carolina, Tuesday evening to face Brevard College (0-3) in a non-conference mid-week match at 6 p.m.
 
The Cavaliers are looking to improve on their best start since the 2006 season. Owning a 3-1 record on the young season, UVa-Wise is coming off a second-place finish in the Falcon Classic at Pfeiffer University this past weekend.
 
After losing the season opener against Slippery Rock, 3-1, this past Friday at the Falcon Classic, the Cavs went on a three-game win streak. All three of the Cavs wins were 3-0 sweeps against Johnson C. Smith Friday and then Pfeiffer and Salem International Saturday.
 
On the contrary, Brevard enters the match on a three-game losing streak after dropping its first three contests of the season. The Tornados lost in five sets to Erskine in their season opener at the Pirate Invitational before being swept by both No. 25 Armstrong State and USC Aiken.
 
Junior outside hitter Karley Allen will attempt to continue her hot start after earning Most Valuable Player honors at the Falcon Classic over the weekend. Allen tallied 60 kills, 44 digs and recorded an attack percentage of .319 over the first four matches of the season. The junior has posted double-digit kills in each match in addition to posting double-digit digs in three of the four matches played.
 
Freshman setter Ciara Kain was named to the Falcon Classic All-Tournament team over the weekend after making 28 kills and eight digs across 11 sets played, including hitting .417 in the match against Pfeiffer.
 
Following tomorrow evening's match, UVa-Wise will take part in the Davis and Elkins tournament in Elkins, West Virginia, this upcoming weekend. The Cavs will face Slippery Rock once again Friday at 2:30 p.m. before taking on Shippensburg at 7:30 p.m.
