Box Score WISE, Va. – Playing their first match inside historic Greear Gymnasium since 2011 the UVa-Wise women's volleyball team swept Milligan College 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-19) in the first home match of the season.

Finally returning to Wise after a nine-game stretch of matches away from home to begin the 2015 season, the Cavaliers (4-6) showed no hesitation in taking down the Buffaloes (6-6) to snap a five-game losing streak.

The home opening match was featured as a "Throwback Thursday" night as both teams wore throwback jerseys with different numbers than they normally wear. It was the first time Head Coach Kristen Salyer led her team as a coach inside Greear Gym after calling the gym her home during her playing career at UVa-Wise.

In a packed and electric Greear Gym the Cavs played a tightly contested first half of the opening set before breaking away from the Buffs for a 25-18 set win. Hitting .341 in the first set behind 16 kills the Cavs got five kills and five digs from junior outside hitter

Erin Anderson also tallied five digs in the opening set as freshman setter
Chandler Rouse dropped in 15 assists. The Cavs kept Milligan to a .200 attack percentage in the first set.

The second set proved even more dominant for the Red and Gray as the Cavs claimed a 25-15 set victory off of an attack percentage of .220 and 13 kills, holding the Buffs to hitting .056 and recording just eight kills. The Cavs made 20 digs in the set led by Anderson with six, while junior middle blocker
Lindsey Tucker earned a set-high four kills.

Taking the third and final set 25-19, the Cavs closed out the match with strong hitting. Recording an attack percentage of .357 in the final set the Cavs made 17 kills as they got six from Allen and five from freshman middle blocker
Amanda Auxier. Allen also added a set-high seven digs in the third as junior libero
Erin Lee made six digs and Anderson contributed five more. The Cavs made a total of 27 digs in the final set, keeping the Buffs at a .116 attack percentage and 10 kills.

The Cavs recorded a .306 attack percentage for the match with 46 total kills, while making 67 total digs and tallying 43 assists. The Buffs hit .126 for the three sets behind 32 total kills, 59 made digs and 30 assists.

Allen led the Cavs on offense with 14 kills for the match followed closely by Tucker and freshman outside hitter
Ciara Kain, who both had nine kills. No errors were committed by Tucker, who hit .500 for the match, and Auxier as Auxier claimed eight kills.

Defensively Anderson led with 16 digs, while Allen claimed 15 and Lee made 11. Junior middle blocker
Santana Bishop and Auxier each claimed three total blocks for the Cavs as Rouse dished in 40 assists.

Marissa Langford and Jenna Headrick led the Buffs offense for the match with eight kills apiece while Emilee Linkous made seven. Milligan's Grace Ann Moorhouse recorded a match-high 20 digs as Jessica Davenport contributed 27 assists.

Now having won three consecutive games at home spanning back to the final two games of last year the Cavs will continue their three-game homestand and begin Mountain East Conference play by welcoming the University of Charleston to Wise Tuesday, Sept. 22. The match is slated for a 7 p.m. first serve from the David J. Prior Convocation Center.
