WISE-- Vinny Kuchenbuch delivered a walk-off double with two out in the bottom of the seventh inning to give UVa-Wise a 5-4 Mountain East Conference baseball victory over the University of Charleston at Stallard Field.

With the come from behind victory, coach Hank Banners' Cavaliers ( 5-11, 5-5) salvaged a split in the NCAA doubleheader. Charleston (5-11, 4-10) won the opener 11-6.

Kuchenbuch's game winning hit came after an RBI single by Dallas Smithers that tied the game for the Cavaliers. Charleston lead 4-3 after scoring three runs in the first inning and one in the third. The Cavaliers' rally came after four strong innings of relief pitching by Talon Young and Cody Jewell. Jewell was credited with the win.

In the opener the Cavs scored three runs in the first inning and then added one in the third inning when Jordan Olinger homered to center field.

 The Golden Eagles took advantage of a two-­­out error in the fourth inning to score seven run and overcome  a 4-2 deficient to claim an 11-6 victory.

 Ryan Dickt had a two run single in the bottom of the fourth, but the Cavaliers could get no closer.

Matthew Houser drove home three runs with two hits in the opener for the Gold Eagles. Right-hander David Webb picked up the mound decision for Charleston after pitching three inning of scoreless relief.

Olinger had a productive day at the plate for the Cavaliers with four hits from eight trips in the doubleheader. The Cavs return to action on Saturday with a MEC doubleheader at West Virginia Wesleyan.
