Box Score WISE, Va. – The UVa-Wise women's volleyball team improved to 4-0 in Mountain East Conference play after winning their fourth home game in a row this season by defeating Concord University 3-1 Tuesday night.

With the four-set (25-19, 21-25, 25-13, 25-23) win the Cavaliers improve to 8-7 overall as Concord drops to 2-18 overall and 1-3 in MEC play. The Cavs have now won six consecutive games in Wise spanning back to last year and are off to their best start in conference play since joining the MEC in 2013.

UVa-Wise jumped out to a 19-9 lead in the first set and never looked back, hitting .294 behind eight kills and seven digs from junior outside hitter

The second set proved to be more challenging for the Cavs as the Mountain Lions took the first five points of the set. Concord led for the entirety of the set and despite UVa-Wise closing within two points at 22-20, the Cavs were unable to string together enough points as the Mountain Lions took set two, 25-21.

The Cavs stepped up defensively in the third set and dominated Concord the entire set, holding the Mountain Lions to a -.200 attack percentage to take the set (25-13) and a 2-1 lead.

Concord jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the fourth set before the Cavs worked their way back to a one-point game at 7-6. However, the Mountain Lions would lead for the majority of the set and go up by four points twice late at 22-18 and 23-19. UVa-Wise used 54 total kills and an attack percentage of .230 to top the Mountain Lions. Recording nine total team blocks, the Cavs made 60 digs and kept Concord to hitting .145 for the match.

Allen led the Cavs with a 20/20 game of 22 kills and 20 digs in the match. Tucker hit .429 in the four sets with 16 kills, while also making five blocks. Junior defensive specialist

Chandler Rouse collected 47 assists.

Brooke Heck led Concord with 12 kills, while Alexis Elliott contributed a team-high 14 digs to go along with 11 kills and four blocks. The Mountain Lions' Jayden Jacobs made 26 assists as Shea Hoffman tallied five blocks.

The Cavs will continue their three-match homestand Friday night as they host another MEC foe in Glenville State, first serve from the David J. Prior Convocation Center is scheduled for 7 p.m.
