WISE - - Saturday's game will pit the visiting Blue Knights of Urbana University and the homestanding Highland Cavaliers of UVa-Wise. Children attending today's game can pick up free candy from the College's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and can compete in a costume contest.
This will be Urbana's first ever trip to UVa-Wise and only the second all-time meeting between the schools. The Blue Knights won the first meeting 24-13, last season. An even lower scoring game may occur in the 2015 battle. Coach Tyler Haines' Urbana club is scoring just 12.6 points per game. Meanwhile,
Dewey Lusk's Cavaliers are posting 20.4 points a contest, meaning the game will pit the two lowest scoring offenses in the Mountain East Conference.
   Â
Urbana's defense has been good enough to win games. The Blue Knights rank third in scoring defense among MEC schools at 28.8 points per game. Senior D'Gary Wallace leads the team and the conference with 118 tackles. The linebacker is averaging 14.8 stops per game, he had a team-high 11 tackles in the game against UVa-Wise last season.
   Â
The Blue Knights have lost five of their last six games entering Saturday. Urbana has played better on the road, where both of the team's wins have occurred. Earlier this season, the Blue Knights posted a 30-23 win at West Virginia State before later winning 33-30 at Lake Erie. The pair of games mark the only time this season the club has scored more than 12 points in a game.
UVa-Wise is looking to stop an eight-game losing streak, the longest in program history.
Zachary Blair continues to be one of the better linebackers in the country. The junior leads all of NCAA Division II with 23.5 tackles for loss. His 92 total tackles is a team-high and is second in the league to Wallace. On offense,
Daniel Lewis enters the game after his
finiest performance at UVa-Wise. The signal caller completed 26 of 48 passes for 333 yards and four touchdowns at Fairmont State.
  Â
Lewis hit seven different receivers last week. Senior
Terrence Younger led the way with six catches for 75 yards and two touchdowns.
James Cousins added a season-high five catches for 57 yards and two touchdowns.
   Â
Despite having one more home game, UVa-Wise will hold Senior Day Saturday.
Marcus Jones, Younger,
Jose Urrutia,
Dustin McGill and
Jason Candeto will be honored in a pregame ceremony on the field.
   Â
UVa-Wise travels to West Virginia Wesleyan next week before playing the season finale at home on Thursday, Nov. 12 against the University Charleston in a special 7 p.m. kickoff.
