Volleyball Cruises to 3-0 Road Win at Glenville State Saturday

Box Score GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The UVa-Wise women's volleyball team earned a 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-12) Mountain East Conference road win Saturday afternoon at Glenville State.

The Cavaliers (14-10, 9-1 MEC) have now matched their win total from last year and with only six more league matches sit tied for second place in the MEC. With the win over the Lady Pioneers (1-22, 0-10) the Cavs guarantee a winning record in conference play.

The Cavs dominated the match from the get go and did not allow more than 19 points in any set. The performance was nearly as convincing as UVa-Wise's 3-0 (25-12, 25-14, 25-17) win over the Lady Pioneers inside the David J. Prior Center back on Oct. 9.

Hitting .227 for the match with 32 total kills the Cavs recorded 32 assists and 42 digs. Meanwhile, UVa-Wise kept Glenville State to an attack percentage of .023 and held the Lady Pioneers to 24 total kills, 23 assists and 39 digs. The Cavs also earned 11 total team blocks in the three sets, while Glenville State was only able to make three total team blocks.

Junior outside hitter Karley Allen reached a career milestone and became the first Cav to ever reach the 1,000 career mark in both digs and kills. The Lanexa, Virginia (New Kent H.S.), native registered nine digs in today's match, giving Allen her 1,000th career dig. Allen made her 1,000th career kill back on Oct. 2 in a MEC road match at West Liberty and tallied a match-high 14 kills this afternoon.

Junior libero Erin Lee made a match-high 10 digs as junior defensive specialist Erin Anderson added nine more herself. Freshman middle blocker Amanda Auxier totaled five blocks, while Allen dropped four aces for the Cavs. Freshman setter Chandler Rouse continued her excellent play by dishing out 30 assists in the three sets.

Kaitlyn Larner led Glenville State with eight kills and eight digs, while Rachel Morris contributed seven more for the Lady Pioneers. Madison Gargus registered 22 assists for Glenville State.

The Cavs now return to Wise and step out of league play for a tilt with King University Wednesday night at 7 p.m. UVa-Wise will host senior night next Friday at 5 p.m. inside the David J. Prior Convocation Center as the Cavs battle MEC foe and nationally-ranked Wheeling Jesuit University.
