Live Video        Live Stats

WISE, Va. – The UVa-Wise women's volleyball team takes on a pair of Mountain East Conference opponents this weekend on the road. The Cavaliers (12-10, 7-1 MEC) travel to Buckhannon, West Virginia, Friday night for a 7 p.m. matchup against West Virginia Wesleyan before going to Glenville State College Saturday for a 1 p.m. first serve.

The Cavs are currently tied for second place in the MEC with Fairmont State who also holds a 7-1 league mark, while Wheeling Jesuit owns the top spot with an unblemished 8-0 conference record. UVa-Wise is coming off of a tough shutout road loss to a very strong Bluefield State team Wednesday night after defeating Urbana University (3-2) and Notre Dame College (3-0) last weekend at home.

UVa-Wise is seeking to avenge its lone MEC loss tomorrow night against the Lady Bobcats (8-14, 2-6 MEC) after losing a 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-23) match in the two teams' first meeting earlier this season on Oct. 10. West Virginia Wesleyan's only other conference win came against Glenville State in a three-set match in Buckhannon.

Nearly two weeks ago on Oct. 9 the Cavs shutout Glenville State 3-0 (25-12, 25-14, 25-17) inside the David J. Prior Convocation Center. The Lady Pioneers are 1-20 overall and are winless in league play.

The Cavs have made 1,010 kills this season and are hitting .201 on the year behind 12.3 kills per set. UVa-Wise has dished out 954 assists at 11.6 per set while making 1,302 digs (15.9 per set). The Cavs are holding opponents to an attack percentage of .173, 12 kills per set, 11.3 assists per set and 15.4 digs per set. Teams have made 980 total kills, 926 assists and 1,260 digs this season against UVa-Wise.

The Lady Pioneers have only made 494 total kills (7.5 per set) this year to go along with 439 assists (6.7 per set) and 744 digs (11.3 per set).

Junior outside hitter Karley Allen will look to continue her outstanding play this year, averaging a league-leading 4.35 kills per set and hitting .232 with 357 kills so far this season. The Lanexa, Virginia (New Kent H.S.), native is only four digs away from moving up to fourth all-time on UVa-Wise's career digs list. Allen is also only 22 digs away from becoming the first Cav to ever make both 1,000 kills and digs in her career. She has recorded 320 digs in 22 matches this season at a pace of 3.90 per set.

Freshman outside hitter Ciara Kain is off to a promising collegiate career having already made 177 kills this year at 2.49 per set. Junior libero Erin Lee and junior defensive specialist Erin Anderson have both been strongholds defensively for the Cavs this as Lee has made 263 digs (3.21 per set) and Anderson has gotten 205 (3.25 per set). Dishing out 741 assists this year and averaging 10.15 assists per set, freshman setter Chandler Rouse will try to continue her fine play this weekend.

Middle blockers Santana Bishop and Amanda Auxier have both done well up front this year with junior Bishop making 79 total blocks and freshman Auxier tallying 71 total.

West Virginia Wesleyan is led by Satcie Baumann on offense who has registered 198 kills on the season (2.64 per set), while Hannah Moore leads the Lady Bobcats defensively with 205 digs (3.11 per set).

After Friday's and Saturday's matches the Cavs will return to Wise for a non-conference tilt with King University Wednesday night at 7 p.m. UVa-Wise will then host senior night next Friday at 5 p.m. inside the Prior Center as the Cavs battle MEC foe and nationally-ranked Wheeling Jesuit University.
