Box Score WISE, Va. – The UVa-Wise women's volleyball team matched last season's Mountain East Conference win total by defeating visiting Notre Dame College (Ohio) Saturday morning in three sets. With the 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-18) victory, the Cavaliers won their second match in a row and improve to 7-1 in MEC play and 12-9 overall.

The Cavs were dominant in all three sets against the visiting Falcons (2-16, 1-7 MEC), holding Notre Dame College to a -.071 attack percentage for the match. UVa-Wise hit .200 in the three sets and also got quite a bit of help from the Falcons as Notre Dame College made 34 total errors in the match.

UVa-Wise jumped out early and grabbed the first seven points of the opening set before Notre Dame College finally got a kill. The Cavs remained in control and the Falcons came within two points only once at 9-7, before UVa-Wise captured the first set 25-15.

The second set was even more convincing for the Cavs; UVa-Wise hit .263 in the stanza as the Cavs kept Notre Dame College to hitting -.024. Once again the Cavs jumped on the Falcons early, taking a commanding 8-1 lead early. UVa-Wise never looked back and continued to hold a big lead the entire set, claiming the 25-13 win. Â

The Cavs held Notre Dame College to a -.105 hitting percentage in the third set in what proved to be the closest set of the match. The score was tied at seven-all before the Cavs pulled away from the Falcons and built a 15-9 advantage. Notre Dame College climbed back and made it a two-point game at 20-18 before the Falcons made four consecutive attack errors. The Cavs took the final set 25-18 with freshman middle blocker

UVa-Wise registered 33 total kills in the match to go along with 30 assists, 44 digs and eight and a half total team blocks. On the opposing side, Notre Dame College made 26 total kills off of 23 assists while dishing out 51 digs and four total team blocks.

Auxier led the Cavs on offense with 11 kills off of an attack percentage of .474, while junior outside hitter
Karley Allen posted eight kills of her own to go along with 10 digs. Junior defensive specialist
Erin Anderson recorded 11 digs to lead the Cavs' defense as junior middle blocker
Santana Bishop claimed six block assists. Rouse had another solid game with 28 assists in the three sets.

Angela Bush led Notre Dame College with eight kills, while Shelby Regiec made 10 assists and Tawnia Almaraz recorded nine digs for the Falcons.

The Cavs will now step out of league play and travel to Bluefield, West Virginia, to take on Bluefield State Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
