UVa-Wise was defeated 49-15 by NCAA FCS Wofford last week while Notre Dame lost its first game of the season 28-14 to the University of Charleston. The schools share three common opponents in Charleston, Urbana, and West Virginia Wesleyan. The visiting Falcons posted a 2-1 mark against the three schools and outscored the trio 89-85. The Cavaliers went 0-3 against the three schools and were outscored 87-34. The game will feature two of the premier receivers in the Mountain East Conference as Notre Dame's Mitchell Shegos leads the league in receptions with 28 and receiving yards at 361. UVa-Wise's
Terrence Younger enters the contest with 24 catches and 300 receiving yards. Last year, Notre Dame won a shootout in South Euclid, Ohio as the Falcons scored 59 points and totatled 418 yards of total offense and scored on their first five possessions of the game. Saturday's game will begin a stretch of playing home every other week for the Cavaliers. UVa-Wise does not play back-to-back home games at all in 2014.
