Box Score WISE - - West Virginia Wesleyan used 10 kills from Erin Bond and 20 assists from Casey Pattyn to score a 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-17) Mountain East Conference volleyball win over UVa-Wise at the Prior Center on Saturday.
The victorious Bobcats (9-16, 7-4 MEC) jumped out to a 9-3 lead in the first set thanks to a pair of kills by Paula Nottingham and never looked back en route to the 25-19 victory. In the set, UVa-Wise (6-17, 1-10 MEC) was limited to just six kills.
The second set also featured an early Bobcats run as the visitors opened up an 11-4 lead and held on late for the 25-21 win. The Cavaliers committed 11 errors in the set on 40 attempts.
West Virginia Wesleyan would lead by as many as 11 points in the final set and post a 25-17 victory to claim the match in large part due to a .270 hitting percentage in the set.
Overall, the Bobcats' finished with 10 blocks in the match while taking advantage of 25 Cavalier hitting errors. UVa-Wise was led by
Brittni Altmann who collected 14 digs and
Santana Bishop who recorded seven kills.
