WISE - - This week's contest features the visiting West Virginia State University Yellow Jackets and the homestanding UVa-Wise Cavaliers.

Each shool enters the game without a win on the season.  Most recently, West Virginia State dropped a 31-10 home decision to the University of Charleston.  Meanwhile, UVa-Wise lost on the road last week, 49-7 to Glenville State College.  The Yellow Jackets enter the game ranked last in the MountainEast Conference in scoring offense (9.7 ppg) and 10th out of the 11 league schools in scoring defense (38.6 ppg).  The Cavaliers are averaging 17 points and are allowing 43.6 points a contest.

Individually, a single-season record could be broken.  UVa-Wise senior wide receiver James Long enters the game just 136 yards from former All-American Jason Lovett's record of 1,058 yards.  Overall, Long leads the MEC in receiving yards, 922, receiving yards per game ,131.7, all purpose yards, 1,568, and all-purpose yards per game, 224 per game.  West Virginia State is led by quarterback Tyler Seals who is second in the MEC in passing yards with 1,123 yards.  The 6'2 senior from Bellevue, Neb. completed 16 of 28 passes for 155 yards in last week's loss to Charleston.  On defense, the Cavaliers' Marcus Jones posted a season-high nine tackles, a week ago.  Jones has posted at least seven stops in each of the last three games.   For the Yellow Jackets, Romell Haley leads the MEC withfive interceptions while teammates William Merritt and Dominique Math have each picked off four passes.  As a team, West Virginia State leads the conference with 14 interceptions.

The game may be the best opportunity for both schools to claim a win in 2013.  UVa-Wise has just one remaining home game while West Virginia State still has a game against nationally ranked Shepherd University.  Each team left on both school's schedule has already posted multiple wins this season.
